Jesus continues to teach truths about His Kingdom via parables. Since both Matthew and Mark have these passages together, I assume these parables were taught at the same time. The subjects are also very similar. These parables relate to the farmer, the landowner, the businessman, the fisherman, and a homeowner.

The parables are short and self-explanatory. Their message is simple and clear. The last three parables were probably heard only by His disciples.

First, the outline gives the lessons for each parable.

  1. We are to bear fruit and reproduce for the Glory of God.
  2. Those not in the Kingdom are destroyed. Those in the Kingdom are saved.
  3. All mankind is judged to be either in the Kingdom or not of the Kingdom.
  4. True teachers will embrace Grace over the Law.
